Well, I took the BEC exam and it is the first exam I'm actually planning on retaking before I've even received my score! I figure if I just go ahead and plan to retake BEC at the end October, two weeks after I take FAR, then it will be a pleasant surprise if I actually find out that I passed in approximately three weeks!
I have to admit, I did not study as much as I should have, but the entire BEC exam is a joke. Do we really need to know Economics and Finance to be an accountant, NO! Maybe if one day we want to be an CFO, but hey, we can learn it then, or look it up as we need it, but not to be a CPA.
This ridiculous section is just a way to generate more income by forcing us to pay for an exam on information we will not use in our jobs, it's like asking a lawyer to be tested on basket weaving on the BAR exam, not necessary!
I can only hope that because my exam had a large amount of IT questions, it will save my score and keep my head above 75!
The waiting has already begun.......

Don't give up just yet! You may be surprised, you probably passed! All the best and please tell us on CPAnet when you do get your results(No matter what score you get!)
See ya!
i took bec yesterday for the 4th time. everytime i walked out i thought i would be close (72,72,73) but no cigar yet. My test was not that bad just some crazy questions. I got one question about how patents are distributed by the patent office. What that has to do with being a CPA,not sure. Hang in there, you will probably pass since you have good scores on your first two.
Yes, you need to know economics and finance as a CPA! Do you want to be auditing cash and ar/ap for the rest of your career?
have you gotten your BEC score? let us know. good luck! :)
Taxwave: Yeap. It's an ardious exam that sucks up soooo much time and engergy that could be better spent elsewhere - such as an MBA ^^.
Don't worry about overstuding. I spent about 10 hour a day for 2 months studing for FAR but finally passed.
Just need a 90% on the CA ethics exam now.
Good luck and enjoy passing --however its done.
Hi! How's BEC studying? I just got mine today and fail. I feel horrible.
At least you got the other sections done.
BEC 8/15 Fail
FAR 10/24
AUD 01/15
REG TBD(04)
hi amber, nice going on your previous tests. I just took REG on Nov 18th. I felt really confident throughout the MC portion...actually, very relaxed and confident. The simulations changed my religion...and then ofcourse panic set in while trying to research some god forsaken topic for the communication portion. Oh well...I have 5 weeks to wait for my results. I hope to be pleasantly surprised.
Great job your doing though....thanks for the blog.
Waiting for your scores SUCKS. I have been on pins and needles waiting to hear back about my auditing section. Then yesterday I get the scores from my BEC section (I passed, whew!) which I took after the auditing section. What gives? Did my AUD scores get lost somewhere along the way?
the first one I took was FAR and it was HARD to study and the exam was difficult
somehow i passed with a 75 despite the fact i thought i completely bombed the m/c and the simulations
i think the way they grade is so subjective
- i took becker and i do think they are great
I passed 4 parts of the exam about six months ago. A lot of hard work, of course. So, don't be discourage. There is a will, there is a way. Keep studying !!! The reward is awaiting you.
I'm studying for the BEC now and the Planning Budgeting and Cost Measurement questions are really hard. =( I think I'm going to fail....
Thanks for all the wonderful comments, I did finally pass BEC on the third try and am now done with the exam and have my CPA license. Whew! For those of you that haven't passed yet good luck, and for those of you that have passed, Congratulations!
I failed to pass it the first time I got 70 & I retake the exam still waiting for the result but the issue for me the kind of question that I'm seeing in the exam, I don't from where they're getting it, so difficult
wish me good luck to pass it
